The wait is finally over. Season one of Star Trek: The Original Series is being released on Blu-Ray Disc. I have been waiting for this ever since the HD Disc War was decided and Blu-Ray won. A couple of years ago when it was decided to not only restore The Original Series but to enhance it into hi-def I was happy. I've been happy with the look of the series. The Special Effects look crisp and the picture looks clear. According to the CBS Store here is the information about the disc set:

And at a price of $89.95, I'm going to put this on my wish list. I can't help but notice that the set is coming out two weeks before the new movie. I have also found out that the discs include both the original episode and the enhanced episode. Thats a great value.

The Enterprise Project - Model gallery added to Official Site!

You may have noticed that Paramount commissioned a couple dozen respected graffiti, FX, and pop artists to give custom paint jobs to the USS Enterprise, or a small 34-inch long scale model of the famous spaceship. The models have been on display at various parties, events and movie theaters to help promote the release of the upcoming JJ Abrams-directed Star Trek reboot. You may remember that LucasFilm held a similar promotion with Darth Vader helmets. The studio has launched an online art gallery collecting digital photos of the models.

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, `The First Lady of Star Trek,' dies in LA

NEW YORK - Majel Barrett Roddenberry, the widow of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry, has died. She was 76. Roddenberry, an actress who appeared in numerous "Star Trek" TV shows and movies, died Thursday of leukemia at her home in Bel-Air, Calif., her representative said.

At Roddenberry's side were family friends and her only son, Eugene Roddenberry Jr. Gene Roddenberry died in 1991.

Her romance with Roddenberry earned her the title "The First Lady of Star Trek." A fixture in the "Star Trek" franchise, her roles included Nurse Christine Chapel in the original "Star Trek," Lwaxana Troi in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and the voice of the USS Enterprise computer in almost every spin-off of the 1966 cult series. She recently reprised the voice role in the upcoming "Star Trek" film directed by J.J. Abrams. Being the voice of the Star Fleet computer System, she is the only actor to appear in every incarnation of Star Trek including the Animated Series and all of the movies.

Welcome to my little corner of the Star Trek Universe. Here you will find out about Star Trek and what it means to me. I mention that this is Gene Roddenberry's dream based on the way the series was written. It is a dream for all people. To live in peace. Do you remember the first time you ever heard these words: "Space. The Final Frontier" I do. I was 8 years old at the time and I saw a show on a Tuesday Night where a shaggy monster was attacking the crew members of a spaceship. The episode was "The Man Trap". At six years old I did not fully understand the show, but my father enjoyed the show so we watched it. When I got into High School I found a couple of other people who where interested in Science Fiction. They reintroduced me to the wonders of Star Trek. Throughout the course of this Blog I will talk Star Trek and discuss how Star Trek changed the world we live in.
